Higher protection than FFP1, and FFP2. 149:2001+A1:2009 (EU) and GB2626-2006 (China). These P2 and P3 masks are sold individually in plastic protective sleeves.
FFP2 masks are disposable and only work for a certain period of time, usually around 8 to 10 hours. If you keep wearing the mask after the recommended time, the filter will be less effective or not effective at all.
There are many different forms of protective masks, offering different levels of protection due to their filtering capability. A P2 mask, also known as a P2/N95 mask or P2/N95 respirator, is a face mask that is specially designed to filter the air and block particles above a certain size, including smoke and fine dust. The P2 or P3 with a “valve” on the nose, is less effective.
The Difference between the N95 and the P2/P3 classification for Respirator face masks is the N95 is the USA label and the P2 /P3 represents the EC version of the same thing. In practice these differences have resulted in no impact on the level of protection to the wearer.
UNDERSTANDING THE CODES
The N95 is the USA equivalent of the European P2 and P3 masks with the P3 offering the higher protection.
The N95/KN95 respirators have a Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) of >95% @ 0.3 micron.
